Dinosaurs appear in Jurassic Park: Distribution of habitat

I will describe the era when dinosaurs were alive from the dinosaurs that appeared in the Jurassic Park series. First of all, I will show the dinosaurs name t appeared in this series.

Since we cannot remind by only dinosaur names, I will introduce some dinosaur.

Dilophosaurus: appear in series 1

Jurassic, Cretaceous dinosaurs appear

The age of dinosaurs is Mesozoic (about 252 million years ago to about 66 million). The Mesozoic era is divided into three periods of Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous. 

In this series, the Jurassic and Cretaceous dinosaurs are mainly appeared, and the Triassic dinosaurs have not appeared. Triassic is the era when dinosaurs began to emerge, the number of individuals is small and the data being obtained is not as much as Jurassic or Cretaceous dinosaurs. 

It is because there are famous dinosaurs more in the latter two eras than Triassic era, too. At the end of Cretaceous, mass extinction of life occurred for some reason, the era of dinosaurs ended.

Tyrannosaurus and Spinosaurus, which is stronger?

The strong dinosaur Tyrannosaurus of northern hemisphere and the gigantic dinosaur Spinosaurus of the Southern Hemisphere are different the flourishing period and the habitat.Battle between Tyrannosaurus and Spinosaurus in the series 3 was exactly a dream confrontation. Spinosaurs won in the movie. Spinosaurus’s bite power may be weaker than Tyrannosaurus, so some people anticipate different results.

At first glance, it seems that the flourishing period of Tyrannosaurus is short. The flourishing period of Tyrannosaurus is about 5 million years. Considering that the history of human beings is about 2 million years, their prosperity has continued for a sufficiently long period of time. 

Tyrannosaurus would also have been a champion of the Northern Hemisphere for longer period if the mass extinction of the Cretaceous didn't occurred. Because we have a small number of Spinosaurus’s data, the flourishing period may not be assumed accurately. Spinosaurus hunt in the river. So, Spinosaurus may has been extinct due to drought caused by climate change. (There are some hypotheses about Spinosaurus's extinction.)

The northern hemisphere champion

There were two continents; Laurasia and Gondwana in Jurassic period. As we can be seen from the distribution of the stegosaurus, the dinosaurs were able to cross the continents.

 In the Cretaceous period, the northern hemisphere land and the southern hemisphere land are completely divided. So, different ecosystems were nurtured in the north and south. Famous Tyrannosaurus did not dominate the entire Earth. they were prosperous in the northern hemisphere only. In the Southern Hemisphere, other champion reigned.

The dinosaurs in the southern hemisphere 

Looking at distribution, you can see that in the movie, the dinosaurs that appeared are concentrated in the northern hemisphere, especially in the current North American region. 

It is because the excavation work was actively performed in North America and Asia, and the number of dinosaur data was large. It cannot be said that there are more dinosaurs in the northern hemisphere than the southern hemisphere.

In recent years dinosaurs have been discovered all over the world and new species are announced one after another. In the next works, I think the number of dinosaurs in southern hemisphere will be more.
